Meet Ken
A Top Instructor comes to Lakeland!
In more than 40 years within the game of golf, and over 20 years as a professional, Ken Morton has had some amazing experiences. From growing up in Michigan, to stints in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Colorado, and now in Florida, he has taught this great game, and competed professionally on the Mini-Tours, and one PGA Tour Qualifying School (Q-School).
Growing up in Michigan, Ken met Ben Hogan's caddy at 12 years old, and was forever fascinated by the man and his perfect golf swing. Ken won a few junior amateur events, and also starred on his high-school team.
Foregoing college golf, however, Ken turned professional in 1989, under the tutelage of PGA Class A Member, Tom Winter, in Toledo, Ohio. Jimmy Ballard and Florida came calling next, in 1994. It was there, at the Palm Beach Polo Grounds, that Ken had the incredible, rare opportunity to train and work with the very best, and with such superstars as Hal Sutton and Jesper Parnivik (then ranked #2 in the world), among many others.
By 2003, Ken then became fascinated by the unique “Iron-Byron-like,” single-plane swinging motion of Canadian golfing savant, Moe Norman. This took him to North Carolina for a stint with Natural Golf as their Director of Golf and Head Teaching Professional for the Raleigh/Durham area, from 2003-2007. After Natural Golf folded its tent, Ken remained in North Carolina teaching through 2009. In 2011, Ken coached the Concordia University Golf Team, in Ann Arbor, MI. After completing his Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and some Masters level work, in Colorado, he again is plying his vast golf experience in Lakeland, Florida.
From playing the game as both amateur and professional, to teaching the game at two “Top-25” Golf Schools, Ken has been on a wonderful journey, experiencing much. Today, Ken loves sharing these great lessons with his clients and celebrating their accomplishments, and is currently writing a couple of seminal books about it.
Ken is a USGTF "Master Professional."
